From the collections of the National Gallery.
The sea, directly connected with the life of the Greek people and history, was a source of inspiration and artistic creation from the last quarter of the 19th century and throughout the course of modern art.
The works in the exhibition come from the National Gallery and Alexander Soutsos Museum.
The exhibition is under the supervision of the Director of the National Gallery Mrs. Lambraki-Plaka Marina and includes works of great seascape Constantine Volanaki, Vasilios Hatzis and Ioanni Altamoura, Konstantinos Malea, Nicholas Litras, Konstantinos Parthenis and Michalis Economou, who are considered the innovators of art in the spirit of modernism, Yiannis Tsarouchis, Nikos Hadjikyriakos - Ghika, Aginoras Asteriadis, Thanos Tsigou, John Gaitis Panagiotis Tetsis Costas Tsokli and others, expressing their personal idiom in the field of landscape painting etc ..
